Governors

“The school regularly seeks and acts on the views of parents and pupils, and works exremely effectively with a wide range of partners both within and outside the local community.”

(Ofsted 2008)

We aim to promote active partnership between parents, teachers and governors to strengthen educational growth. We regard parents as full partners in the education of their children and welcome their involvement in our school activities.

There is pleasure and joy for all in sharing children’s education with parents in school. Parental/carer help in school contributes to high achievement, especially in areas such as reading. Parents are encouraged to help in school and on educational visits. Volunteer parents are always being sought. Please approach teachers if you would like to help in any way. A policy on parental help gives guidelines to parents.

Parents are invited into school on numerous occasions to share their children’s progress and to look at their children’s work. Meetings may be arranged at any time if there is cause for concern. The first point of contact is the classteacher, with the Headteacher also available when required.

Parents Consultations are held in the Autumn and Spring Terms. Teachers meet with parents of all the children. Year 6 children can attend the consultation appointment with their parents, as part of the development process of assessment for learning. Feedback indicates parents are happy with this arrangement. The class teacher also feels that the meeting is more productive and children have an increased sense of ownership of their learning.

The School Association

"The School is privileged to have an active School Association that has raised finance to enhance the education of the children at the school. All parents are automatically members of the School Association. A committee meets regularly to organise events. There is no limit to the number serving on the committee and new members are always welcome."
