We aim to promote active partnership between children, parents, teachers and governors to strengthen educational growth. We regard parents as full partners in the education of their children and welcome their involvement in our school activities. There is pleasure and joy for all in sharing children’s education with parents in school. Parental/carer help in school contributes to high achievement, especially in areas such as reading. Parents are encouraged to help in school and on educational visits and volunteer parents are always being sought. A policy on parental help gives guidelines to parents. Parents are invited into school on numerous occasions to share their children’s progress and to look at their children’s work. Meetings may be arranged at any time if there is cause for concern. The first point of contact is the classteacher, with the Headteacher also available when required. Parents Consultations Teachers meet with parents of all the children in the school. Parents are asked for feedback on the meetings and additional meetings set up if necessary to ensure they had a full understanding of all areas for consultation.)
Consultation indicates 100% satisfaction with the quality of assessment information provided. Year 6 children are invited to attend the consultation appointment with their parents, as part of the development process of assessment for learning. Feedback indicates that parents and children value this arrangement. It is felt that the meeting is more productive with childrenfeeling an increased sense of ownership of their learning. "The school regularly seeks and acts on the views of parents and pupils, and works extremely effectively with a wide range of partners both within and outside the local community." (Ofsted 2008)
